[Here are some Answers]

"All have sinned and come short of the glory of God"

   (Rom 3:23)

First of all, when we state that we are a “good person,” all we are doing is comparing ourselves with one another.  The Bible states: “For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.”   (2 Cor 10:12)

A.    “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”   (Rom 3:23)  Sad.   Here here is another verse that doesn’t paint a very flattering picture of mankind.  “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” (Isa 64:6)

You see?   None of us are ‘good’, especially comparing ourselves to Jesus, the sinless Savior of mankind.  None of us are good enough to go to heaven if we don’t receive Jesus. (John 1:12)  The Bible compares us to ‘filthy rags’ which is alarming (and sickening).  But there's more to it than that.  When Adam and Eve (the first couple created) disobeyed God in the very beginning, by listening to satan’s lies (John 8:44), and eating the fruit of the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, they made a choice to believe the devil over God.  “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.”  (Gen 3:6)   Disobeying God has some serious consequences, and in this case, it meant death.  We all now will die.

B.   We are born into sin and without Jesus, all are headed for destruction, which is a placed called ‘hell’ which was created for satan and his disobedient angels.  It wasn’t meant for you and me but if we serve this world, or satan, we will follow him into destruction since we were all born into sin.  “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”  (Rom 5:12)

C.   The good news is, and this is great news, we don’t have to go the way of the devil.  Because of God’s love for us, He sent us a Savior, and that is His only begotten Son.   “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  (John 3:16)    Our part is to receive Jesus by faith.  (John 1:12)  And to follow Him.   We must believe and trust God that Jesus is the answer.  It is not that difficult.   “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man  believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."   (Rom 10:9-10)

God wants none of us to perish.   (2 Pet 3:9)

Christ paid the penalty for our sins, yesterday, today and tomorrow.

That is why we need Him.

Call upon Him now where you sit or stand. He’s waiting.  (Rev 3:20)

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
